Dry Dock #6 – Bremerton, WA

Constructed in the early 1960s, Drydock No. 6 at the Bremerton Naval Shipyard was originally designed to service vessels of all sizes—up to aircraft carriers. Decades of exposure to the marine environment led to visible deterioration throughout the dock, including cracking, delamination, and spalling of concrete elements.

Due to the dock’s significant size—60-foot-high structural walls—a comprehensive inspection program was launched to assess existing conditions, map defects, and quantify the extent of repairs needed. As part of the design team, RAM GeoServices, Inc. provided geotechnical consulting services to help develop effective and sustainable ground improvement strategies.

Our support included evaluating site conditions and offering technical recommendations for the use of deep soil mixing and jet grouting systems. RAM also produced preliminary construction cost estimates to guide planning and support decision-making for potential ground treatment solutions.

Our expertise contributed to the early-phase planning of this high-value federal infrastructure project, helping ensure future repair efforts would be both technically sound and cost-efficient.
